본 연구의 목적은 한국사회에서 종교와 종교성이 사회적 자본 축적에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지 규명하고자 함에 있다. 본 연구를 위해 「한국종합 사회조사」(Korean General Social Survey: KGSS, 2011)를 활용하였다. 종교와 종교성은 독립변수 종교유형(불교, 개신교, 천주교)과 참석빈도, 종교별 믿음 정도(신앙심)을 포함하고 있으며, 사회적 자본를 종속변수로서 사회신뢰, 대인신뢰, 정부 신뢰, 규범, 네트워크(접촉빈도) 등,「한국종합 사회조사」내용에서 일부를 활용하였다. 본 연구에서 활용된 분석방법은 Stata 12.0을 사용한 모형으로 구성되어 있다. 순위형 로지스틱 모형(ordered logistic model)을, 종교와 종교성의 상호작용항(interaction effect term)이 사회적 자본에 미치는 영향을 분석하는데 적용하였는데, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 종교와 종교성은 사회적 자본에 영향을 미치는데, 사회적 자본인 신뢰의 유형별로 차이가 있었다. 그리고 개신교가 모든 신뢰성 즉, 사회신뢰, 대인신뢰, 정부신뢰에 가장 큰 영향력을 끼치고 있었다. 2. 종교와 종교성은 규범성(동정심, 보호심, 도움의식, 자아해결)에 영향을 미치는데, 개신교와 천주교는 동정심, 보호심, 도움의식에 큰 영향력을 나타내며, 불교는 보호심, 도움의식에 영향을 끼친다. 자아해결에는 종교가 크게 영향을 끼치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 3. 종교와 종교성이 네트워크접촉빈도에 통계적으로 유의한 영향은 나타나지 않았는데, 불교신자가 네트워크접촉빈도가 높음을 알 수 있었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study aims to investigate the effect of religion and religiosity on the social capital creation in Korea. This study employs an empirical research method by means of analyzing questionnaire results of statistical data on 2011 KGSS (Korean General Social Survey). For the interaction of religion and religiosity, religious types (Protestantism, Roman Catholicism, Buddhism, Atheism), the frequency of worship service and the strength of faith were chosen as independent variables. For the social capital, social trust, human trust, government trust, norms(sympathy, protection, willingness for giving helps, self-consciousness) and the frequency of network were chosen as independent variables. Stata 12.0 was used for ordered logistic model to analyze the effect of religion and religiosity on the social capital creation. Analytical results are summarised as follows: 1) The interaction of religion and religiosity was positively related to social capital via different trust types. Protestantism was the most positively affecting social trust, human trust and government trust; 2) The interaction of religion and religiosity was positively related to norms. Whilst Protestantism and Roman catholicism mostly affected sympathy, protection and willingness for giving helps, Buddhism did both protection and willingness for giving helps. All the religions did not affect self-consciousness; 3) Whilst the interaction of religion and religiosity was not positively related to the frequency of network, only Buddhism affected it significantly.
