보복성 자살은 문자 그대로 보복하기 위한 의도로 스스로 죽음을 선택한 것이다. 자신의 힘이 미약함을 느끼어 죽음으로써만 자신의 정당성을 입증할 수 있고, 그렇게 함으로써 자신에게 억울하게 누명을 씌웠거나 자신에게 향한 상대방의 부당한 처사에 대하여 꼼짝 못하게 함으로써 가해하려는 의도가 바탕에 깔려 있다. 이런 점에서 보복성 자살은 크게 양면적 성격을 갖는 죽음이라고 해야 한다. 그것은 자신의 죽음으로 인해 억울하다는 누명을 벗으려 하거나, 자신을 부당하게 대하는 태도에 대하여 침해를 가하려는 의도로 스스로 죽음을 선택한 것이기 때문이다. 다시 말하면 보복성 자살은 자신의 죽음으로 인해 자신의 정당성을 입증함은 물론 자신을 힘들게 하는 상대방이나 사회에 대하여 자기방어를 하고, 동시에 침해를 가하려는 가해적인 성격이 짙다. 이런 논점에 대하여 본 논문은 보복성 자살의 원인을 고찰하고, 그에 따른 상담치료적인 대응책을 강구한다. 이로 인해 그에 따른 예방이나 상담치료적 대응은 어떻게 이루어져야만 하는가에 대하여 다루려고 한다. 작금에 유명 기독교인의 자살이 사회적 파장을 일으키고 있는 때에 그들의 자살이 어느 정도는 보복성의 성격이 다분히 내포되어 있다는 점을 간과하지 말자는 것이다. 이런 현상은 교회가 단순한 신앙의 논리만으로 고수해 온 예방이나 대응책에 미비함을 보인 것이라면 이에 대한 만전을 기할 필요가 있다. 이는 자살에 대한 보다 신중한 자세와 함께 그 원인을 분석함으로 적절한 결과를 얻을 수 있어야 한다는 것이다.
Abstract
This article shows the causes of retaliational suicide and preventive measures to it from the viewpoint of pastoral counseling. Retaliational suicide may be observed as committing suicide accidently. So many are vulnerable to the danger of suicide. Therefore, any Christian may commit suicide in critic moments. In the changing social situations, the problem of adaptation may evoke frustration and can be the means of the final solution for even believers. In this view, enervation of belief due to depression is an important issue in pastoral care. One can not assert stubbornly that the only key to any kind of problems is to believe because depression may overwhelm belief. Facilitating Christian's spiritual wellbeing, strengthening the meaning of life, emphasizing God's calling to himself or herself and experiential religious life would be necessary. Especially, experiential faith can vitalizes life and helps overcome crisis.
