최후 수단적 자살은 문자 그대로 최후 수단적으로 선택한 죽음이다. 자신의 힘이 미약함을 느끼어 죽음으로써만 자신의 무혐의나 정당성을 입증할 수 있고, 그렇게 함으로써 자신에게 억울하게 누명을 씌웠거나 자신에게 향한 부당한 처사에 대하여 항의하려는 의도가 바탕에 깔려 있다. 이런 점에서 최후 수단적 자살은 크게 양면적 성격을 갖는 죽음이라고 해야 한다. 자신의 죽음으로 인해 억울하다는 누명을 벗으려 하거나 자신을 부당하게 대하는 태도에 대하여 항의하려는 의도로 스스로 죽음을 선택한 것이기 때문이다. 더욱이 최후 수단적 자살은 자신의 힘이 미약하다고 판단되는 상황에서 얼마든지 일어날 수 있다는 점에서 여전히 위험적인 요인으로 작용할 수 있다. 더 나아가 이런 최후 수단적 자살에서는 누구라도 예외일 수 없다는 점이다. 작금에 유명인들의 자살이 사회적 파장을 일으키고 있는 때에 그들의 자살이 어느 정도는 최후 수단적인 성격이 다분히 내포되어 있다는 점을 간과하지 말자는 것이다. 이런 현상은 우리 사회가 예방이나 대응책에 미비함을 보인 것이라면, 이에 대한 만전을 기할 필요가 있다. 이는 자살에 대한 보다 신중한 자세와 함께 그 원인을 분석함으로 적절한 결과를 얻을 수 있어야 한다는 것이다. 이런 점에서 본 논문은 상담학의 도움을 받아 최후 수단적 자살에 대한 원인을 고찰하고 자살에 따른 경각심을 가짐은 물론, 그에 따른 상담치료적인 대응책을 강구한다.
Abstract
This article shows the causes of the last measure suicide and preventive measures to it from the viewpoint of counseling-psychotherapy. The last measure suicide may commit suicide accidently. So they are vulnerable to the danger of suicide. We may commit suicide in critic moments. In the changing social situations, the problem of adaptation may evoke frustration or be the means of the final solution to even believers. In this view, enervation of belief due to depression is an important issue in counseling-psychotherapy. We can't assert stubbornly that the only key to any kinds of problems is to believe because depression may overwhelm belief. Facilitating our spiritual wellbeing, strengthening the meaning of life, emphasizing our living to himself or herself and experiential religious life would be necessary. Especially, experiential faith can vitalizes life and helps overcome crisis.
