초록

Hannah Arendt was one of the most ironic political thinkers of the twentieth century as she admitted that her “thisness” would probably be “identifiable but not definable.” In this paper, however, I will take a chance to define it with this particular research question: Is it justifiable for her political philosophy to be [re]defined as political aesthetics? I shall tackle this question by firstly examining Arendt's own reading of Kant's Critique of Judgment from which she took not a few fundamental theoretical insights to creating one of her own later; next move to discuss her unique methodology of thinking and then the concept of human plurality which appears to be the condition for her political aesthetics in toto; and, lastly, present a brief summary of the previous arguments to be followed by a special theoretical implication that Hannah Arendt' political aesthetics has for our bios politikos today. To be more precise, its symbiotic relationship to ‘social justice’ which has hitherto been the missing link in her political thought between the vita activa and the vita contemplativa.
