케노시스 개념의 인문학적 함의 - 자기비움의 사회적 가능성에 대하여 -

케노시스 사유의 재발견은 지난 20세기 종교와 문화적 유산의 중요한 진보 가운데하나이다. 본 연구는 케노시스의 사유가 자연과 문화와 인간 사회에 어떠한 함의를 지니는지 검토하고자 한다. 특히 자기비움이라는 신학적인 통찰이 어떠한 인문학적 함의를 지니는지 검토하고자 한다. 유대교의 카발라 전통은 신의 세계 창조를 구상하는 중요한 사변으로 자기비움의 문제에 접근하고 있다. 이 자기비움은 성서적 전승에서 잘드러난다. 예수 그리스도는 십자가의 희생을 통하여 자신을 비웠다. 이 자기비움을 통하여 하나님은 세상의 자유와 생명의 근거를 형성하였다. 이 자기비움의 사랑은 하나님의 가장 이상적인 모습으로 성서적 전승에서 묘사된다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구는케노시스의 유산은 큰 가치를 지닌 종교적 유산이며 하나님의 창조와 성육신의 중요한 동력임을 보여주고자 한다. 또한 이러한 자기비움의 유산이 오늘의 사회체계에서어떠한 윤리적이며 실천적 함의를 지니고 있는지를 제시하고자 한다. 더 나아가 인간문명을 새롭게 추동하는 사회적 가능성으로서 자기비움의 사유가 어떻게 연결될 수있는지를 희망의 인문학의 관점에서 검토하고자 한다.
Abstract
The development of kenotic thought was one of the most important advances in religious and cultural heritages in the late twentieth century. Focusing on the relevance of kenotic thought to some of the perennial questions about nature, culture and human society, this paper seeks to re-specify its theological meaning with a view on developing a concept of kenosis from a perspective informed by humanities. What, then, has been kenosis and into what did it develop? Jewish kenotic thoughts centered around the metamorphosis of God and human, and these expressions are evident in the Kabalistic tradition of zimzum. In the idea of Shekinah, “God’s Indwelling,” we see a biblical background: Christ sacrifices through Kenosis, which is self-realization as well as self-giving. In this kenotic process, God gives space for freedom, individuality and fullness of life. Kenotic love stands for the supreme ideal image of God. Kenosis, as this paper will show, is a valuable religious heritage. It is a creative force directly linked to divine creativity as well as incarnation. In the process of sharing my understanding on this concept which I align with the humanities for hope, I am aiming at contributing toward a deeper understanding on the foundation and meaning of freedom in human civilization.
