예수의 권위 이해 - 권위와 윤리의 상관성을 중심으로

본 연구는 AD 70년 성전 파괴 이전을 살아가던 예수라는 한 인물이 전통적 권위에 도전한 흔적을 찾기 위함이다. 인간의 권위는 창조주로부터 부여된 권위다. 최초의 권위자였던 하나님으로 인해 창조세계는 질서를 유지하고 조화를 이루었다. 하지만 창조주의 권위에 한계를 느낀 인류는 그 울타리를 벗어나서 독자적인 권위를 추구하고자 창조주의 권위에 도전하기 시작했다. 인간은 그 후로부터 불완전한 권위를 손에 쥐었고 부여된 권위를 선용하지 못했다. 세계사의 흐름 속에서 그 권위는 왜곡되었고 남용되거나 악용되어서 인간 본연의 삶을 위태롭게 만들었으며, 현재까지도 공동체의 행복을 파괴해 가는 중이다. 이러한 권위의 추락과 몰락 사이에는 권위를 행사하며 비윤리적인 사고와 행동을 일삼는 부류들이 존재한다. 예수의 가르침은 전통적인 권위자들과는 극명한 차이가 있다. 예수에게 있어서 율법적 행위로 인한 권위 행사는 윤리적 실천을 드러내는 통로다. 복음서 안에서 예수가 직접 윤리적인 삶을 언급하며 가르친 흔적은 명확하지 않다. 하지만 성서를 대하는 이들은 예수의 행적 하나하나를 통해, 또 그 가르침의 심연을 향하면서, 예수가 율법을 초월하는 윤리적인 삶을 이야기하고 있음을 알게 된다. 예수는 전통적 권위자들 사이에서 대안적인 권위를 행사하며, 바람직한 권위자의 모습을 보여주기 위해서 고군분투한 인물이다. 예수와 함께 머물렀던 전통적 권위주의자들은 여전히 현시대에까지 건재하면서 권위를 오용, 악용하며 위험한 권위자들을 양산하고 있다. 이러한 폐단이 생긴 것은, 예수가 행사했던 카리스마 권위 ‘ἐξουσία’에 대한 오해 때문이다. 예수의 권위는 군림하는 ‘자리’가 아닌 명백하게 윤리적 태도와 자세에 있다. 이 관점은 현대 권위자들이 경청해야 할 내용이다.
Abstract
This study is to find the traces of a person named Jesus, who lived before the destruction of the temple in A.D. 70, challenging the traditional authority. Human authority is the one granted by the Creator. Because of God, the first authority, the Creation World maintained order and harmony. However, mankind, feeling the limit by the authority of the Creator, began to challenge the authority of the Creator in order to pursue its own authority out of his protection. Since man had incomplete authority in his hands and has not made good use of the authority granted. In the flow of world history, the authority has been distorted, abused or misused, in the end, having the human life jeopardized, and is still destroying the happiness of community. Between the fall and collapse of authority, there are those who engage in an unethical thinking and behaviors under the influence of authority. The teachings of Jesus are markedly different from those of traditional authorities. For Jesus, the exercise of authority through legal action is a channel to reveal ethical practice. In the Gospels, the traces of Jesus' teaching directly referring to ethical life are not clear. However, those who deal with the Bible find that through each of Jesus' actions and toward the depths of his teachings, he is talking about an ethical life that transcends the law. Jesus exercised alternative authority among traditional authorities and struggled to show a desirable authority figure. The traditional authoritarian governments who stayed with Jesus are still alive in the present era, misusing and abusing authority and producing dangerous authorities. The destruction was caused by a misunderstanding of the charismatic authority "ἐξουσία" exercised by Jesus. Jesus' authority can be clearly found and existed in his ethical attitude and posture, not in his reigning 'place'. This perspective is something that modern authorities should listen carefully to.
