초록

This study attempted to understand the Bible as the story of God’s mission and sought to discover God’s mission revealed in the New Testament. In particular, this study tried to ascertain missiological themes demonstrated in the New Testament. In doing so, this study articulated some missiological insights related to God’s mission in light of holistic mission. In other words, this study attempted to read the New Testament through the lens of mission and responded to missiological issues raised in the church and various mission fields. The synoptic Gospels proclaim God’s kingdom and teach that whoever believes in Jesus Christ will enter it. The Gospel of John teaches that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. The Book of Acts demonstrates that the apostles who were filled with the Holy Spirit planted churches and enlarged God’s kingdom in the course of church history. The Pauline epistles show the theology and mission practice of the apostle Paul. He taught that both the Jews and the Gentiles could be saved through God’s grace and by their faith in Jesus Christ. The general epistles teach that the early churches should overcome the false teachings of various heresies. The Book of Revelation demonstrates that the early churches would be victorious over Satan and demons in the spiritual war by keeping their faith and enduring severe persecution, while expecting the new heaven and the new earth. Korean church needs to understand the close relationship between the Bible and missions. Korean churches need to read and interpret the Bible through the perspective of holistic mission in light of God’s mission. Korean churches need to continue theological dialogue between biblical hermeneutics and missional hermeneutics in order that they can greatly contribute to the conversion of the people, and the multiplication of church, and the extension of God’s kingdom. Korean churches need to become missional churches which give praise and glory to God.
