≪中朝學士書翰錄≫의 脫草 原文 및 校釋

Abstract

Jungjo Hagsa Seohanlog(中朝學士書翰錄) of Cursive Script : Its Deciphered Text and Annotated Translation Kang, Chan-soo(Wonkwang Univ.) Kim, Hee-kyoung(Seoul Univ.) Cha, Young-ik(Eulji Univ.) Jungjo Hagsa Seohanlog(≪中朝學士書翰錄≫), recently found in the rare books collection of Korea Univ. library, is a collection of cursive letters and poems that six Qing Dynasty's scholars--Cheng Gongshou(程恭壽), Chen Han(陳翰), Li Xian(李銜), Weng Xuehan(翁學涵), Zhang Bingyan(張丙炎), Li Wenyuan(李文源) sent to two Choson Dynasty's scholars, Kim Yongchak(金永爵), and Kim Hongchip(金弘集), in the late 19th century. Testifying to the various cultural exchanges between two cultures and nations, it is an invaluable historical material for the study of the responding poems by the scholars of two different regions. Through a preliminary decoding of these letters and poems collected in Jungjo Hagsa Seohanlog, an inquiry about the consensus among scholars about some of its ambiguous sentences, and a comparative study of relevant historical documents as background information, I investigate the undiscovered contents of “Yeonhaengnok”(燕行錄), and some of lost listings in poem anthologies of the period. By doing so, I hope to facilitate a further study that can discover and make up the missing contents of Kim Yongchak’s anthology and several unexplored, hidden stories of these Qing Dynasty’s scholars. Finally, this paper wishes to provide the research materials on the actual modes of intercultural communication that reveals different historical perspectives, and the mutual exchanges on both cultural and literary levels. A meaningful study in this field will ultimately expand the horizon of an intercultural study of comparison between Korea and China in the late 19th century.
