조남령 시의 역사적 대응 양상 연구 -생애와 작품의 상관성을 중심으로-

Abstract

This study is aimed to examine the correlation between poet Cho Nam-ryung's life and his works. The results are summarized as follows. Literature is the reflection of a life. Sijo poet Cho Nam-ryung started his literary career in 'Sentence' in the Japanese colonial period and loved by the literary circles. In addition, since his sijo 'Spring' was chosen for the first prize in the literary public contest sponsored by 'The Chosun Ilbo', which was first introduced by the researcher of this study, his footing in the literary world became solid and firm. Therefore, he could devote himself to creating sijo and establishing sijo theory during the period, contributing a lot to the development of sijo literature. On the other hand, he expressed his thoughts and political ideology through his works in form of poet rather than sijo during the period of Korean liberation from Japan and the Korean Civil War. The Student-Solider Alliance became the critical momentum by which sijo poet Cho Nam-ryung rolled up his sleeves into the ideological battlefield. After then, his life had been dedicated to solidifying his ideology through publishing poets, which were straightforward and ideological along with his political path as a member of Chosun Literary Men's Association for Workers' Party of South Korea. The Collection of 3 Modern Sojo Poets indicates that he externally reinforced his ideology in his poetic works, but internally gave much thought to sijo. Although Cho Nam-ryung was lost in the Korean War and cannot be tracked back yet, it is very meaningful to confirm that his life is closely correlated with his works.
