세계사 교과서 제4차 개정(1982년 적용)부터 현행 2015 개정 교육과정에 나타난 이슬람 종교 편향성 변화 분석

본 연구에서는 1982년 적용된 제4차 개정 교육과정부터 2017년 적용되어 현재 사용되고 있는 2015 개정 교육과정 하에 세계사 교과서에 나타난 이슬람 종교 관련 용어와 서술의 변화를 통한 이슬람 종교 편향성을 분석하였다. 제4차, 5차 개정 교육과정보다 1992년부터 적용된 제6차 교육과정부터 이슬람 종교적 요소 및 종교 관련 용어의 확장을 볼 수 있다. 또한 이후 개정 교육과정이 진행될수록 이슬람 종교 관련 용어의 의미와 종교적인 면이 부각 됨으로써, 이슬람 편향적 서술이 확장되었다. 교육과정에 따른 이슬람 관점 서술의 변화 요인은 한국이슬람교 측의 논문 및 서적을 통한 문제 제기, 교사 연수강연 등을 통한 교사들의 인식 전환, 교과서 교육과정 개발 시에 이슬람 학자들이 각 위원으로 참석하여 교과서에 실린 이슬람 관련 내용의 수정을 위해 지속적으로 활동한 것에 있다. 그 결과 교과서에서 나오는 이슬람 종교 편향적인 내용들을 다음 세대들이 여과 없이 받아들이게 되었고, 더 나아가 공교육 현장에서 올바른 가치관과 분별력을 키워주도록 교육해야 하는 세계사 교사들조차도 이슬람 종교 편향적으로 바뀐 교과서의 문제점과 심각성을 인지하지 못하는 결과가 초래되었다. 이제, 한국기독교와 부모세대는 현행 2015 개정 교육과정 하에 세계사 교과서의 이슬람 종교 편향성의 문제점을 직시해야 한다. 또한 교육부는 2022 개정 교육과정하에 세계사 교과서는 엄선된 집필진들로 새롭게 구성하여 전면 개편함으로써 균형 잡힌 서술을 통한 올바른 세계사 교육이 다음세대들에게 이루어지도록 해야 한다.
Abstract
This study tried to analyze the pro-Islam inclination in world history text books of the 4th amendment of 1982 through those of the educational curriculum of 2015 which remains effective upto now since 2017, by looking into the changes in the use of Islam-related terminologies and expressions. We can witness that the 6th amendment educational curriculum which became effective in 1992 expanded in the expressions of Islamic elements and terminologies, compared with those of the 4th and 5th amendments of educational curriculum. Also, the pro-Islam expressions such as detailed explanation on the Islam terminologies and Islam religion have expanded a lot more as the amendment evolved. These trends result from strenuous efforts by Korean Islam Society such as vigorous publications of books and thesis, lectures to teachers which led to the changes in their perspectives, and active participation of Islam scholars in the text book writing board during the development phase for the continued corrections of Islam-related contents in text books of elementary, middle and high school levels. As a result, our next generation are forced to accept unfiltered pro-Islam contents and even teachers of world history who are supposed to bring up upright perspective and discernment in the field of public education could not recognize the problems of pro-Islam world history text book and its impact. Now, Korean Christianity and parent generation should look straight into the problems of the religious inclination towards Islam in World History text book under 2015 Amendment education curriculum. Also the Ministry of Education should carefully select the writers and re-organize the writing board for the world history text book under 2022 Amendment and amend the text book so that the new world history text book can provide a balanced perspective and education to our next generation on world history.
