전염병으로 인한 사회적 위기의 시대는 수많은 죽음과 죽음에 대한 공포를 생산하고 아울러 다양한 폭력을 양산하여 왔다. 하지만 수많은 폭력이 폭력으로 인정되거나 인식되지 못하고 있으며 그 폭력의 의미에 대한 철학적 성찰도 부재한 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구는 르네 지라르(René Girard)의 이론을 중심으로 판데믹 상태의 한국 사회에서 발생하는 폭력의 양상과 의미에 대해 고찰해 본다. 지라르의 분석에 따르면, 페스트가 휩쓴 유럽의 사회가 그러했고 스페인 독감 시기도 그러하였으며 금번 코로나 19시대도 마찬가지로 폭력은 늘 전형적인 모습으로 나타난다. 사회적 위기는 문화적인 것의 소멸을 가져오고 체제 내부의 차이에 대한 존중을 무력하게 만든다. 그리고 이 무력감은 선입견을 생산하고 평상시에는 아무것도 아닌 차이들로 인해 소수의 사람들을 희생양으로 만들고 그들에게 폭력을 가한다. 위기의 시대 폭력은 중간층에서 멀리있는 집단으로 향한다. ‘사회적 비정상’이라는 개념을 만들어 평균적인 사회적 신분에서 멀리 있는 사람들을 희생양으로 선정하기도 한다. 전염병의 창궐로 인한 위기의 시대에 발생하는 폭력, 즉 혐오와 배제 낙인찍기를 비롯한 수많은 구조적 폭력은 분명히 억울한 희생양을 만드는 집단적 테러이고 지양되어야 할 것이다. 하지만 희생양을 만들어 그들에게 폭력을 집중시키는 ‘희생제의’적 ‘폭력속임’을 통해 사회는 집단 전체가 감당해야 할 무차별적인 폭력을 피해왔다는 것 역시 부정할 수 없는 사실이다. 우리는 앞으로 공포의 일상화 속에서 그리고 늘 다음 판데믹을 준비하면서 살아야 한다. 이러한 상황에서 우리는 시대를 좀 더 객관적으로 고찰할 수 있어야 하며 위기의 시대, 폭력과 폭력의 속임 그리고 희생양이 존재한다는 사실을 직시하고 그 폭력의 의미에 대해 다시 생각해야 한다.
Abstract
The era of social crisis caused by infectious diseases has produced numerous fears of death and has produced various violence. However, many violence is not recognized as violence, and there is no philosophical reflection on the meaning of violence. Therefore, this study is to examine the aspects and meanings of violence in Korean society in the Pandemic state, focusing on René Girard's theory. According to Girard, Social crisis brings about the extinction of cultural things and makes the respect for differences within the system helpless. And this helplessness produces preconceptions and, in normal times, makes a small number of people scapegoats and violence against them due to nothing. In addition, the violence of the crisis period is directed from the middle class to the distant group, and the concept of 'social abnormality' is created and the people who are far from the average social status are selected as scapegoats. Violence in the era of crisis caused by the outbreak of infectious diseases, such as hate and exclusion stigma, and numerous structural violence, must be avoided and avoided as a collective terrorism that makes unfair scapegoats. However, it is also undeniable that society has avoided indiscriminate violence that the whole group should deal with through the 'victim' s deception of violence that creates a scapegoat and focuses violence on them. We must live in the everyday life of fear and always preparing for the next pandemic.In this situation, we should be able to consider the times more objectively, and face the fact that there are crisis era, deception of violence and think about the meaning of violence again.
