구상 초기시 연구―「수난의 장」에서 「초토의 시」까지

Abstract

In the history of poetry in the 1950s, the position of Ku Sang and his poetry is unique. Ku Sang was indicted for his writing by the new system in the North Korea after liberation and defected to South Korea to seek personal safety and became an anti-Communist and worked at the forefront of the Korean War that broke out right afterwards. Against this biographical fact, the poetry of Ku Sang, written at the same time, shows a unique embodiment of "Christian ethics and spirit" and "transcendent and the absolute good-oriented humanism" based on it. Unlike his life story, his poems show no anger, hostility or anti-Communism toward the regime and communism of the North. In addition, he wrote poems about historical reality, but does not express personal resentment or feelings, and it is hard to find a transitional trace of his unique Christian spirit and humanism embodied poems. Therefore, it is necessary to comprehend the poetries and biographical facts of this period and give them a three-dimensional light in order to clearly understand how the 'Christian ethic and spirit' that penetrates the entire poetic world of Ku Sang and how 'transcendent, absolute good-neighboring humanism' has been formed and developed based on it. So, in this study we reconsider the early poetries of Ku Sang in the poetry collection "Ku Sang," by dividing into the works of liberation and before-defection to South and after-defection as well as those written during the Korean War and reviewed the biographical facts together if necessary. This will serve as an opportunity to shed light on the nature of Ku Sang's poetic world and further expand and deepen the depth of the poetic history of the 1950s.
