Abstract

In 1980, Korean literature entered a dark era amid political and social turmoil. Due to the National Security Legislative Council's consolidation of media institutions, regular publications such as quarterly 『Creation and Criticism』 and 『literature and intelligence』 was closed, and free voices was not available. As a result, Korean literature in the 1980s opened the era of literary coterie magazine and mook magazines. The Korean literature continued without giving in to the violence of the new military. literary coterie magazine and Mook magazines in the 1980s had a dimension of countering the oppression of the new military government, but they also challenged the literary hegemony held by the existing central literary circles. The distrust and sense of alienation from the power of the central literary circles, which is far from the social and historical context, became the catalyst for the publication of literary coterie magazine and mook magazines. ≪Siundong≫, ≪Sihim≫, ≪Owolsi≫, ≪Mokyosi≫, ≪Samuimunhak≫, ≪Masanmoonhwa≫, ≪Bansi≫, ≪Siwakyungje≫, etc. The emergence of various literary coterie magazine and mook magazines became a new driving force for Korean literature in the 1980s. This study focuses on 'Siundong' among literary coterie magazine and mook magazines in the 1980s. Among many literary coterie magazines and mooks, the reason why they focus on 'Siundong' is that they focused on the autonomy and aesthetic embodiment of literature, stepping aside from the idling literary discourse with 'The people' as their keyword. Their poetry movement was completed in the 1990s. In the 1980s and 1990s, the discourse of Korean literature needed an inflection point, and at the center is the 'Siundong'. Their declaration for freedom played a role in the transition from the 80s to the 90s. In this study, the characteristics of 'Siundong' are studied, and furthermore, an attempt is made to analyze the world of their poetry. 'Siundong' explores the world of freedom commonly referred to as 'Bird' and 'Icarus', and this progresses to the formation of the inner world. After the early stage, in the middle stage, quantitative expansion is also being carried out in addition to the qualitative dimension. Through various projects, they are broadening their domain and gaining universality. This paper is a research paper with continuity, and the second part(follow-up study) after the first part continues the study of the poetry movement of 'Siundong'. Through this, we reconsider the role of 'Siundong' and re-evaluate their position in Korean literature in the 1980s.
