Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between special education teachers’ recognition of quality of life related to socio-demographic characteristics and their work-related stress. First, the results show that the teachers’ gender, education, monthly income and school do not show any significant differences in each sub category of quality of life, that the older they are, the higher their career recognition is, and the younger they are, the higher the emotion area is, and that the more career years they have spent as a special education teacher, the higher their career recognition is. Second, while the sub area of work-related stress has no significant relation with the teachers’ monthly income and school, the female group shows higher level of work- related stress than the male group. Also, the higher the level of a teacher’s age, education and career years is, the higher their work-related stress is, while in the area of relation conflict, organization system and job culture, the group of teachers who have 11-15 career years show a significantly higher level of work-related stress than the group of those who have less than 5 career years. Third, the verification by correlation between special education teachers’ recognition of quality of life and work-related stress shows that the area of career life and career demand have a positive correlation, while the emotion area and the areas of career demand and relation conflict have a negative correlation.
