Abstract

This study investigates the intersection of Korean language education and counseling, with a particular focus on the application of bibliotherapy. The research proposes a theoretical foundation of utilizing bibliotherapy in Korean language education and explores bibliotherapeutic techniques that may be effectively incorporated into Korean language instruction. Recognizing the necessity of prior research on target populations for the successful implementation of counseling methods, this study identifies married immigrant women —one of the most extensively studied groups to date—as a particularly suitable demographic. From the perspective of developmental bibliotherapy, two practical approaches are proposed. At the classroom level, a three-stage (pre-session, while-session, and post-session) teaching and learning model is recommended. At the instruction level, the study suggests incorporating bibliotherapy-based questioning techniques into teacher discourse training. These strategies not only enhance the pedagogical effectiveness of Korean language instruction but also empower Korean language teachers to serve as sources of emotional support for their learners
