학문과 학술 연구의 변화를 분석하고 논의하는 것은 해당 분야의 핵심적 주제에 대한 식별과 학문분야의 정체성을 확립하는데 있어서 무엇보다 중요한 과정으로 볼 수 있다. 특히 환경이나 전반적인 현상의 변화이 연구의 주제와 구성 그리고 형식 등에 영향을 주었는가에 대한 분석은 연구자들에게 있어서 연구의 방향성과 내용을 결정하는데 상당히 유용한 의미를 가지게 될 것이다. 본 연구는 국내에서 섬도서연구의 주요한 학술지로 평가되는 한국도서연구 학술지에 2007년부터 2016년까지 수록된 356개의 논문을 대상으로 저자, 키워드, 초록, 제목과 같은 계량서지정보를 이용하여 연구의 특성을 분석하고자 하였다. 사회네트워크분석(Social Network Analysis)은 내용분석을 위해서 개발되고 적용되는 최근의 기법으로 섬관련 연구의 주요한 개념과 주제들을 발견하는 데 사용되었다. 전체 연구 논문 중에서 60%에 이르는 논문이 공동연구로 수행되었으며 이 비율은 점진적으로 증가하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구저자에 대한 분석결과에서는 5개의 주요 연구자 집단이 식별되었으며 이러한 집단은 크게 사회과학, 문화사회학, 식물학, 지질학 그리고 공공의료건강 분야의 범주로 구분할 수 있다. 또한 이러한 그룹들에 속한 저자들의 공동연구도 발견되었다. 내용분석의 차원 중에서 사용된 키워드를 중심으로 한 분석결과에 따르면, 관광, 의료, 숲, 어업, 축제, 어촌계, 문화(tourism, health, forest, fisheries, festival, fishing village, culture) 등이 가장 빈번하게 사용되고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 중심성 지표를 기준으로는 섬, 관광, 환경, 해양(island, tourism, environment, sea and marine)이 핵심적인 키워드로 나타났다. 초록에 대한 분석에서는 섬, 관광, 한국, 어업, 공동체, 해양, 문화, 자원, 개발, 해안, 산업, 환경, 가치, 의료, 낚시, 만족(island, tourism, korea, fishery, community, marine, sea, culture, resource, development, coast, industry, environment, value, health, fishing, satisfaction)과 같은 어휘가 99회 이상 사용되고 있는 것으로 나타났고 이러한 결과는 제목을 중심으로 한 분석에서도 유사하게 발견되었다. 한편 사용된 키워드의 일관성이나 키워드로 사용되는 어휘 혹은 단어의 수에 있어서 다수의 단어가 하나의 키워드로 사용되는 것과 같은 문제가 개선이 필요한 것으로 나타났으며, 연구자들이 지속적인 연구들의 일관성을 위해서 보다 엄격하고 신중하게 이러한 점을 고려해야 할 것으로 제안하고자 한다.
Abstract
The major aim of this study is to analyze the characteristics of research based on bibliometric data and contents that including authors, key words, abstracts and titles in 356 articles from the year of 2007 to 2016 in the Journal of Korean Island, a major journal of research on Korean islands. This study used bibliometric data analysis and Social Network Analysis(SNA), methodology in contents analysis for finding the major theme or concept of the paper. About 60% of papers had been conducted with collaboration or joint research and that ratio had significantly increased by year. Based on the results of analysis, 5 major research clusters or groups were found. Most of the groups were categorized by social science, culture sociology, phytology, geology and public health science; interrelations existed among authors in each category. Based on the results of this study in terms of contents, the most frequently used key words were interdisciplinary and convergence concepts including tourism, health, forest, fisheries, festival, fishing village, and culture. Considering the centrality index the most dominant key words were island, tourism, environment, sea and marine. The results of analysis on abstracts in each paper show that term used more than 99 times were island, tourism, Korea, fishery, community, marine, sea, culture, resource, development, coast, industry, environment, value, health, fishing, and satisfaction. Similar results were found in the analysis of titles. Although there were outstanding achievements of research on Korean islands, some improvement including consistency of frequently used key words and numbers of terms in each should be implemented. Further, researchers should concern themselves with the rigor of their elaborated article contents consistently in terms of sustainability.
