전남 진도군 문화예술 발전의 역사적 배경, 동기 및 진흥방안

본 연구는 전남 진도(珍島 : Jindo)라는 우리나라 서남단의 섬 지역 문화예술 발전이 이루어진 역사적 배경과 동기를 분석하여 지속가능한 진흥방안을 목적으로 연구되었다. 전남 진도군의 문화예술을 통해서, 우리 민족이 본래 가지고 있던 문화예술의 형태가 원형을 유지하고 지속가능하게 계승될 수 있는 진흥방안을 제안하였다. 특히, 우리 민족문화예술의 문화원형(prototype)이 지금까지 전승되고 발전되어온 이유를 진도의 역사적 배경과 특징, 동기 분석 등을 통해서 파악하였고, 어떻게 활용하여 진흥시키는 것이 좋은 방향인지를 문헌 고찰하였다. 이는 순수한 의미에서의 진도군 문화예술의 문화원형이 유지될 수밖에 없었던 진도 지역의 독특한 섬 지역만의 특성과 유배지로서의 특성, 그리고 유배지에 유배 온 상류계층과 진도 지역 특유의 뛰어난 지역문화의 속성들이 어우러진 결과물이라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 문화예술 발전의 스토리텔링(storytelling)을 활용하여 세계 속에서 진도 지역의 문화예술을 널리 알리면서 그 가치성을 높여 문화예술콘텐츠(cultural art contents)로서의 대한민국 대표 브랜드(brand)로 만드는데 기여하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 진도 지역 문화예술 발전의 지속가능한 진흥방안을 제시하는 데 그 궁극적인 연구 목적을 두었다. 이런 진도 축제식 장례 외에도 진도군의 문화예술은 거의 대부분이 춤과 노래를 동반하는 우리나라 고유의 전통 연희성(演戲性)을 모두 내포하고 있는데, 이는 원시 종합예술적인 성격을 그대로 계승하고 있다는 증거이다. 이와 같이 진도 지역의 문화예술이 더욱 발전하기 위해서는 진도 지역의 문화예술콘텐츠의 정책지향과 문제를 파악하고, 향유자 중심의 진흥방안을 모색한 본 연구의 제안을 눈여겨 볼 시점이다. 이에 본 연구가 제안한 창조의 원리에 입각한 무형문화재 제도의 재정립 필요, 진도군 민속문화의 활용과 가치 재창출, 진도군 문화예술콘텐츠를 역사자원을 기반으로 한 융복합화, 진도군 문화예술의 디지털 아카이브 구축 등을 고려해야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This study is intended for analyzing historical background and motivation of culture and art development in Jindo(珍島) , an island located in the southwestern tip of Republic of Korea and making a plan for sustainable promotion of those culture and art. Through the culture and art of Jindo in Jeollanam province, this study suggests a plan for promotion under which the form of culture and art inherently owned by Korean people will be maintained in its original form and succeeded to be sustainable. In particular, this study identifies the reason why the prototype of Korean culture and art has been passed on and developed through analysis of historical background and characteristics of Jindo and motivation. This study also make a literature review to find out which direction is better in terms of the way how to utilize and promote them. This may be the result of mixture of such an unique characteristics of the culture and art of Jindo as an island and a place of exile – mixture of exiled upperclass and unique and excellent local culture of Jindo- that the prototype of culture of Jindo was forced to be maintained. This study seeks for making a contribution to wide promotion and value increase of the culture and art of Jindo in world wide by utilizing storytelling of culture and art development so that it can be a representative brand of Republic of Korea as a cultural art content. The ultimate goal of this study is to make a suggestion of sustainable plan for promotion of local culture and art development of Jindo In addition to this festive funeral of Jindo, almost every culture and art of Jindo include all the unique and traditional theatricals of Korea accompanied with dance and songs and this proves that the culture and art of Jindo succeed the characteristics of primitive synthetic art as it is. Likewise, in order to develop more the culture and art of Jindo, this is a point of time that the suggestions of this study identifying policy direction and problems of the culture and and exploring a enjoyer-centered plan for promoting the culture and art of Jindo. We should consider the suggestions of this study: the need of re-establishment of intangible cultural asset system based on the creativity principle; utilization of value re-creation of folk-culture of Jindo; convergence based on historical resources of culture and art contents of Jindo; and establishment of digital archive of culture and art of Jindo.
