이른바 반기업 정서로 명명된, 기업 또는 기업인에 대한 부정적 인식은 한국인을 대표하는 경제관이자 기업규제를 양산하는 주범으로 알려져 왔지만 원인 규명을 위한 체계적 연구는 미흡한 상태이다. 이에 본 연구는 반기업 정서를 인식의 문제로 보는 관점에서 반기업 정서의 대상을 기업 전반, 대기업, 기업가의 세 가지로 구분하고 그 원인에 대해 개개인의 인구통계학적 특성, 기업의 본질과 시장원리에 대한 지식과 이해(경제 IQ 변수), 사회 제도에 대한 신뢰와 연결시켜 다변량 회귀분석을 시도한다. 분석 결과, 경제 IQ 변수는 대부분에서 반기업 정서에 유의미한 영향을 미치며, 또한 반기업 정서는 법치주의를 비롯한 사회제도에 대한 불신과 강한 동조화 경향이 있는 것으로 나타난다. 이러한 결과는 올바른 경제교육을 통해서 반기업 정서를 완화시킬 수 있지만 사회적 자본이 측적되지 않는 한 근본적 개선은 어려울 수 있음을 시사한다. 그리고 공무원 직업군의 대기업 및 기업인에 대한 반감이 통계적으로 유의하게 높은 바, 이 부분은 규제개혁 추진과 관련하여 주목할 만한 내용이다.
Abstract
It’s been quite a time since the high level of anti-business sentiments in Korea have been one of the major social issues. However, there has been few rigorous research on the matter. In this study, we treat the anti-business as perceptional phenomena associated with information and knowledge rather than emotional judgement. We seek to find the causes of the anti-business and regress on demographic factors, social capital, and economic I.Qs. Economic I.Q. variables here include individual knowledge and information on the nature of the firm and market competition, etc. The results show that the anti-business increases as the economic I.Q. and social trust decrease. This implies that the anti-business can be partly managed by market-friendly education. Furthermore, social trust, which is historically path dependent, should be also improved to reduce the high and persistent anti-business sentiments in Korea.
