(European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life)에서 개발한 설문지 EORTC QLQ-C30을 사용하여 평가하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the association between purpose in life and health-related quality of life after breast cancer surgery. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of the patients with breast cancer within 1 year after surgery. Psychological evaluation included anxiety, depression, self-efficacy and purpose in life. Health-related quality of life was assessed using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30. Ninety-one subjects with breast cancer were included in the study. Participants were divided into 2 groups according to the result of purpose in life measure. The high purpose in life group (≥100 in purpose in life scale) showed higher self-efficacy score and lower anxiety and depression scores than the low purpose in life group (<100). With regard to health-related quality of life, the high purpose in life group showed significantly higher scores in global health status, emotional and cognitive functioning. Purpose in life was significantly associated with global health status after adjusting for age, stage, type of surgery, chemotherapy and aerobic capacity. Purpose in life is associated with health-related quality of life as well as other psychological functions such as anxiety, depression and self-efficacy in subjects with breast cancer.
