Abstract
The purpose of this study is to consider positive psychology's theory of well-being from a Christian perspective to reveal its acceptability and limitations for Christian counseling. Positive psychology, which pursues a scientific approach to studying human happiness, has changed the direction of psychology. Previously focused on problem-solving, psychology now emphasizes growth and prevention. Positive psychology initially proposed the authentic happiness theory with human happiness as its central theme. However, after discovering various limitations within this initial theory, it advocated an expanded theory of well-being. The theory of well-being aims at flourish, a life that surpasses momentary happy and thrives continually. This theory includes the PERMAS model, which identifies key factors influencing flourish. Positive psychology offer significant benefits in the field of counseling, yet it is a humanistic theory that requires evaluation and integration from a Christian perspective before its application in Christian counseling. From a Christian perspective, well-being and flourish are to live in relationship with God and actively participate in the expansion of God's kingdom, and they should be addressed together well-dying. Furthermore, from a Christian perspective, each of the PERMAS factors can be developed through a relationship with God rather than solely through human effort.
