이 글은 구체적인 경험에 근거한 대리모 논의가 여성의, 여성으로서의 몸에 대한 주체적 입장에서 그동안의 대리모 관련 논의들을 어떻게 좀 더 다양하게 구성하는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 우선 페미니스트들의 ‘기술의 사용자’ 개념을 통해 사실상 생명공학기술의 도구와 수단으로 위치되어있는 대리모 여성이 현실에서 생명공학기술의 주요한 주체이자 ‘기술의 사용자’로 인식되어야 함이 왜 필요한지 생각해보겠다. 그 다음에는 대리모를 둘러싼 여러 입장과 논의들이 (대리모)여성 자신의 몸에 대한 주체적 경험과 입장을 어떻게 왜곡하는지를 살펴본다. 이를 위해 기술이나 가치의 효율성 또는 절대적인 가치로 구성되는 ‘생명’ 또는 ‘모성’에 대한 인식들이 실제 경험과 현실에서 어떻게 드러나며 이것이 대리모 여성의 경험에 어떤 함의를 구성하는지 논한다. 그리고 대리모에 대한 계약론적 접근과 (사회)구조적 접근이 대리모 여성의 경험을 주체적으로 해석하고 인식하는데 갖는 한계와 가능성을 살펴본다. 마지막으로 생명공학기술의 발달에 따른 여성(들)의 몸/재생산권에 대한 복잡한 경합을 드러냄으로서 기술과 생명윤리에 대한 여성주의적 개입을 위해서 필요한 부분에 대해서 생각한다.
Abstract
This paper attempts to show the ways in which a discussion concerning "Surrogate Mother" (daerimo) grounded on her own specific experiences, from a female subjective perspective, are able to vary previous discussions regarding "Surrogate Mother". For the above purpose, this study looks at first why "Surrogate Mother" situated as a tool and means of bio-technologies should be recognized as an important subject and a 'user of technology' by means of a feminist concept, 'user of technology'. Second, it examines how diverse positions and discussions surrounding issues of Surrogate mothers have distorted subjective experiences and positions on their own body. For such an aim, this paper argues how awareness about 'life' and 'motherhood' are reveled in reality and then discusses its implication in the composition of experiences of "Surrogate Mother". Third, this study looks at both possibility and limit contractual as well as (social) structural approaches have in understanding experiences of "Surrogate Mother" as subjective. By way of exposing complicate contesting surrounding women's body/reproduction right, this article finally thinks about issues which feminist intervention is necessary for technology development and bio-ethics.
