본 논문은 분리주의적 공예 개념을 제안했던 선행 논문의 후속 연구로 공예의 미적 평가론을 제안한다. 분리주의는 살림 공예와 같이 부재와 부정항으로 간주된 비주류 공예를 포함하고 공정하게 평가할 수 있다. 본 논문은 여성들의 살림 공예 중 직조, 염색, 바느질을 탐구한다. 인류사에서 지속적으로 그 실천을 이어온 살림 공예가 예술/공예/디자인 이론에서 배제되었던 역사를 비판적으로 분석하면서, 이들 이론에서 미끄러진 살림 공예의 특성들, 곧 공력, 협력, 소통, 재활용을 평가의 기준으로 제시한다. 또한 샘플러, 생활용품, 수도 등을 평가하면서 휴리스틱스 분석과 확장된 심미주의를 채택한다. 공예는 포스트예술로 나아갈 수 있지만 총체적인 도구적 가치로서 공예의 유용성은 여전히 유효하다. 공예는 일상의 미학을 실현하며 자기반성과 사회적 가치 전환으로 나아간다. 공예의 여유, 향유, 통합성은 삶의 철학이자 실천인 것이다.
Abstract
In this essay, I suggest the aesthetic evaluation theory for the crafts after my previous essay about the devisionist concept of the crafts, My evaluation theory includes the minor crafts such as the domestic crafts which the modernist aestheticians regard as the absence and the negative counterparts in the comparative and the analogic argumentation to fine art. I research for the weaving, the dyeing, and the needlework in the field of the women's domestic crafts. I critically analyse the theories of the culture/fine art/craft/design which have excluded them, I propose the mastery, the collaboration,the communication, and the recycling as the evaluative criteria of them,which have been slipped from the established theories. Especially to evaluate the samplers, the useful tools, and the embroidery paintings,I analyse the various factors of their heuristics and insist the expanded aestheticism. On the one hand, the crafts may be shifted to post-art, and the other hand,the usefulness of the crafts still stands. The crafts embodies the personal and the social values in the aesthetics of everyday life. The relaxation, the enjoyment,and the integration of the crafty heuristics are not only the philosophy but also the practice of the ordinary life.
