Abstract

The national developmentism of Korea has resulted in prejudice and ignorance of the life and history of the Vietnamese people in the way of establishing the unified state of Vietnam, while illuminating the unified state of Vietnam as a one-way view of anti-communism in the perception of Vietnam after the end of the Vietnam War. This is not irrelevant to the fact that the economic growth centralism, the legacy of Korean modernization, regards the modernity achieved by Korea as an economic power rather than Vietnam as comparable to the modernity achieved by Western imperialism, so that Korean orientalism against Vietnam works. This article aims to focus on the poetic response of KoreaVietnam to modern violence by performing a complete understanding of Vietnam in literature and examining modern poems of Korea and Vietnam. First of all, it is difficult to overlook the fact that Vietnam has enjoyed a long civilized life with the river in the rice farming culture of Indochina Mekong Delta through the poetry of Vietnam. And it is difficult to recognize that Vietnamese poetry related to the Vietnam War show only the anti-imperialist uprising. Although Vietnam has won a war against the world's superpower, the United States, it has suffered unspeakable pain and wounds through a terrible war, and is carrying out poetic healing to stare at this pain and wound. In addition, it should be noted that the historical implications represented by Jeju and Gwangju in Korea share the consciousness of the problem of anticolonialism and democracy, that is, the problem of the 'Decolonized Cold War' in East Asia, to Vietnamese poets who have struggled against the Japanese colonies and the subsequent French and American military invasions since the middle of the 19th century. Also, the important thing in the poetic response of Korea Vietnam is that the economic reform to pursue the Vietnamese socialist modernity in the reconstruction process of the socialist state after the victory of the Vietnam War and the 'Doi Moi' critically reflect on the serious problems within the Vietnamese society caused by materialism. As such, both Korea and Vietnam have been experiencing the heated struggle of national liberation and the devastation of war while sharing the history of colonialism, and the true understanding will be wide open in the continuous literary exchanges between the two sides to enjoy the peaceful daily life of East Asia. Therefore, not only should the literary exchanges between Korea and Vietnam be actively conducted in various fields, but also, it is necessary to provide a place for translation introduction of both literature more actively than now.
