Abstract
Image processing digital forensic technologies play an important role in criminal investigations, security surveillance, and legal evidence analysis, and technological advances are expanding the accuracy and utility of these analyses. This study utilizes patent data to identify innovation pathways in digital forensics technology. We collected data from 11,508 patents with CPC code G06T7/70 from Google Patents, and applied network analysis and SPLC techniques to identify major technology clusters (TR1: AI based image analysis, TR2: AI based 3D image processing and spatial recognition). TR1 is centered on object detection, image quality enhancement, and legal evidence verification, while TR2 has evolved toward 3D image reconstruction and spatial recognition to increase the precision of evidence analysis and crime scene reconstruction. Recently, the convergence of the two technologies has accelerated, improving the reliability of legal evidence analysis and the possibility of real-time digital forensic analysis. This study analyzed the development path of digital forensics technology and presented the possibility of improving the reliability of legal evidence verification and real-time analysis through technology convergence. This study contributes to the development of digital forensic technology and provides important basic data to strengthen the reliability of legal evidence and the precision of analysis.
