Abstract

The purpose of this study is to study to on on the civilian army activities during the Imjin War based on the military-hystorycal study. Firstly I consider to call it as 'Imjin war', investigate the overall surface of Imjin war, and then draw military historical implications for the four leaders of the civilian army across the country and their main battle instances. For this purpose, firstly this study has studied the main variables of the civilian army in Imjin war through the analysis of previous studies, and by focusing on main variables derived from previous studies, this study selected ① the role and importance of commanders, ② securing of strategic locations and supply lines, ③ the importance of information and the command of guerrilla war, and ④ reinforcement of consolidation in civilian, public and military, as the final independent variables that affected by verifying the validity through the theoretical study related to Imjin war and civilian army. And these independent variables demonstrated that the civilian army activity affected to Imjin war. This study would like to consider the impact of the civilian army activity in Imjin war to the overall war situation, and derive the main factor of victory in leaders of the civilian army. Especially, this study would like to suggest that all our people, who are divided into South and North, should be mindful of national defense by considering the military historical meaning and a contemporaty implication that those civilian army with the excellent insight into military and all subjects worked together as one and they won the battle with the Japanese army by the variety of tactics, that is, the command of guerrilla war, despite the limitations of weapon systems and their numerical inferiority.
