현대 한국사회의 자살과 불교적 관점 - 불교사회공동체 역할 보안(補案)을 중심으로 -

근래 한국 사회는 지난 18년간 OECD 1위의 심각한 아노미(anomie)성자살 문제로 부심(腐心)하고 있다. 1960년대 산업화 이전의 한국 사회는전통 가족공동체 중심 문화와 종교를 신봉하던 사회였다. 그러나 근대화이후, 우리 사회의 격심한 변화는 사회 구성원들에게 감당하기 어려운 변화를 강요하고, 많은 낙오자를 양산하고 있다. 다행스럽게 최근 들어 자살방지책에 대한 대안을 아노미성 상황의 책임 당사자인 사회가 나서 구성원들을 다시 보듬어주고, 사회구성원으로서의 소속감과 존재감을 회복시키는 방안이 부상하고 있다. 최근 국회의 국회자살예방포럼, 정부의 생명운동정책민간협의회 등의 정부 단체들이 나서면서, 한국종교인연대, 불교상담개발원, 한국생명운동연대, 생명존중시민회의 등의 종교단체나민간사회단체들이 합세하는 자살예방 사업은 요지부동의 한국의 자살률감소에 실마리를 제공할 것으로 보인다. 특히 한국 사회의 불교는 시민단체 등과 연합하여 종교공동체 양식, 신 가족공동체 강화 양식, 시민사회와의 종교문화적 연대 양식, 영성을 개발하는 종교문화적 양식, 사이버 시대의 적응 양식 등으로 그동안 공동화(空洞化)로 취약해진 불교사회공동체역할을 강화하여 한국사회의 원기를 회복시켜 자살예방 운동에 이바지해야 할 것이다.
Abstract
Recently, Korean society has been struggling with the most serious suicide problem in the OECD for the past 18 years. This suicide phenomenon in Korea is an anomie-type suicide that occurs in a crisis in which the collective order or norms are weakened by serious social change as argued by Durkheim. Prior to industrialization in the 1960s, Korean society was a society that believed in a culture and religion centered on a traditional family community, with strong group-orientation based on strong familialism, and familiar with obedience and obedience. However, since modernization, the drastic changes in our society are forcing changes that are difficult to bear on members of the society, producing many left behind. It is disrupting the traditional social community upon which members of Korean society depended and transforming the past social order or norm into a form that is difficult to reverse. Nevertheless, the countermeasures for countermeasures against the high suicide rate in Korean society were still revolving around the medical field-centered solution based on the individual attributable theory. In addition, the religious community, who is stingy with a weak role, is also in a position to respond to the phenomenon of hollowing out the role of the traditional family community due to the damage of the traditional social community. Fortunately, recently, as an alternative to suicide prevention measures, the society responsible for the anomalous situation has emerged to take care of its members and restore their sense of belonging and presence as a member of society. Recently, government organizations such as the National Assembly’s Suicide Prevention Forum and the government’s Life Movement Policy Private Council have come forward, and religious and private social organizations such as the Korean Religious People’s Solidarity, Buddhist Counseling Development Center, Korea Life Movement Union, and Respect for Life Citizens’ Association have joined forces. The suicide prevention project is expected to provide a starting point for reducing the suicide rate in Korea. In particular, Buddhism in Korean society, in association with civic groups, has become common in the form of a religious community, a form of strengthening the new family community, a form of religious and cultural solidarity with civil society, a religious and cultural form of developing spirituality, and a form of adaptation in the cyber age, it is necessary to strengthen the role of the Buddhist social community, which has become vulnerable, to restore the vitality of Korean society and to contribute to the suicide prevention movement.
