Abstract

Ham se-deok's play are mostly appraised as ones full of "dramatic properties". there are many cases that fail to succeed in putting them on the stage in spite of their literary excellence. Ham se-deok's works, however, have made a clear success in staging them up to recent times. The success of performing plays should be considered in various ways, but excellence of the work itself and its dramatic characteristics should be come in first. because play can be completed by performing on the stage from the intrinsic characteristics. thus, the method analyzing drama texts should be considered by 'performance' as well. In this paper, I have tried to make a close analysis of dramatic properties based on blocking. A blocking means the movement of actors, and the writer of the stage. therefore it would be a means of ptoducing the images which visualize and spatialize the content of a plays. So blocking is essential to the stagcraft. Ham se-deok understood better the characteristic of the stage than anybody else, and his plays embodied the essence of the plays in his uses of blocking. Like this, I can make sure that Ham se-deok enriches his world in the play by introducing dramatical uses of various things as possible. As a result, I can say that the methods of dramatical assessment should be proven from the close examination on the dramatic properties.
