Abstract
I would like to suggest the term "country novel" to identify a series of new peasant novels in slightly between rural literature and a farm literature. Country novel depicts estranged rural life from the city. In addition, it is less pastoral than rural literature, less agricultural than farm literature. Briefly, it spells the novel that describes culture and atmospheres of our tradition. It is discovered hitherto that humanism has been developing into a new trend of country novel from several novels, for example Park Seong-ho "Landscape from a barley field", Kim Dong-geun "Being a man", Kim Yun-wan "Winter cicada", Jung Dong-soo "Man from the snow way". It is expected that country novel will take a role of a step stone to encourage our literature in developing ecological and future oriented works.
