윤동주의 시세계 연구 -「자화상」에서「참회록」에 이르는 길

초록

Abstract

Yoon Dong Ju was born in 1917 and died in Fukouoka jail in 1945 aged only 29. Before he died he had completed about 150 poems and essays. These works were published after his death in 1948, entitled, 『Sky, wind, star and poetry』 This study is mainly concerned with this work and what themes and ideas the author was trying to explore through his poetry, and where his deepest intentions lay. From 「Portraits」 he began to explore an internal conflict, he struggles to discover what his true identity is, through an intense introspective narrative. 「Portraits」reveals a subtle transformation of the author's self image, from a deep sense of self loathing to Self Pity, a return to self loathing and then to a state of 'yearning' for his own character. His mind was split between self loathing and self pity and the combination of these two states of mind resulted in a yearning for a future state of mind that would be more positive, self rescue and self relief. However he was aware of the fact that as a Korean in this point in history he could not be truly free. 「Hospital」,「Comfort」,「The Beatitudes」, 「Fearful time」Through these poems he is able to come to terms with his dark reality. Through the poem 「Cross」 we can see how his desperate mind is expanding to a point where he is sacrificing his own self. The poem 「The beginning poem」 shows the author's attempt to communicate with nature and the what he thinks about the Universe. He refuses to run away from the dark reality of his situation, instead he embraces his reality, and is able to articulate these ideas in 「The beginning poem」, the poem, 'Regrets' he overcomes his ordeals
