동학(東學)의 평화(平和)사상에 관한 일고찰

Abstract

The DongHak peasant revolution can be seen as an important starting point for the formation of Korean democracy and modern history, which ranges from the 3.1 Movement to the Anti-Japanese Independence Movement, the 4.19 Revolution, the Democratization Revolution, and the Candlelight Revolution. But the DongHak peasant revolution cannot be said to be DongHak thought. It is important to go back to the essence of DongHak thought and to examine the intention that Donghak intended to express the value, meaning, and inclusiveness of DongHak thought. This paper focuses on “peace” among the various values ​​of DongHak, and highlights the peace thought of DongHak. The great reason for the DongHak peasant revolution, like the French Revolution, was not a revolution for modernity, but a movement to restore the value of humanity. This is because the spirit of Jeonju Agreement and the heads of the DongHak peasant revolution, which voluntarily dissolved the conditions of the enactment of abolished reform in order to prevent the possibility of foreign intervention in advance, and the leaders of the Donghak peasant revolution, gathered their strength against the repeated Japanese invasion. One example would have been the demonstration of power. The important axis supporting DongHak thought is the peace ideology, which is represented by “Si-Cheon-Ju(Serve God with in me)” and “Sa-in-Yeo-cheon(Being as You Would Treat God)”, and this peace ideology developed and spread to the DongHak peasant revolution. Thoughts and attitudes that honor the sky and respect people are not suddenly found in DongHak, but can be found as far as the Gyeong-Cheon(Worship of Heaven) thought of Toegye. It is now necessary to develop and succeed the peace spirit of DongHak in modern times. Active research on the peace ideology of DongHak should be continued, and based on this, it is necessary to promote the peace spirit research project with Young Ho Nam and other regions, and further expand the inter-Korean peace movement based on the DongHak peace spirit. In the future, it is time for a variety of efforts in each field, such as ongoing research and policy support, over the dynamics.
