Abstract

This paper focuses on interreligious dialogue as a powerful means of realizing peace in situations of conflict, dispute, and war. Even in the midst of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, there are cases of seeking the possibility of peace through interreligious dialogue. For example, IEA and PCFF each contribute to peace- building and interreligious dialogue in the Israel-Palestine region in their own unique ways. The common characteristics of these organizations are that, first, they utilize religion as a resource for peace-building, second, they value grassroots dialogue and encounters, and third, they pursue relationship-building from a long-term perspective. However, they face the task of building a sustainable model amidst common difficulties such as political tension, securing stable funding, and the threat of religious extremism. The experience of interreligious dialogue in Israel and Palestine also provides important implications for the Korean Peninsula, reminding us that peace cannot be achieved simply through political agreements or institutional devices, and that continuous dialogue and understanding at the civil society level are essential.
