대구 한밤마을 지명에 나타난 경관 특성

본 연구는 우리나라 대표적인 전통마을인 대구 한밤마을을 대상으로 마을과 관련된 역사서나 지명지, 향토지, 지도 등에 나타난 자료들을 활용하여 현존하는 주요 지명에 대해 그 의미와 특성을 분석하였다. 대상마을인 한밤마을은 영남의 명산인 팔공산 북서 자락에 위치한 대촌(大村)으로, 박물관과 같은 박제가 아니라 주민들의 다양한 삶을 이어가고 있는 유서 깊은 곳이다. 마을지명은 그 발생 연유와 이용행태에 따라 크게 풍수적 지명에 나타난 장소적 의미, 선조들의 사상이나 이념이 담긴 공간의 장소적 특성, 그리고 실생활 속에 나타난 삶의 장소 등으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 풍수적 지명은 마을을 형성하고 있는 일정한 형태의 물리적 공간과 관계를 맺음으로써 공간의 의미를 강화하여 땅과 인간, 생활을 연결하려는 의미로 해석할 수 있었다. 한거적 지명은 선대 삶의 모습과 사상, 의지 등이 후대에도 지속되어 이어주길 바라는 마음과 수단이 공간 속에 담겨 지명으로 인식하고자 하는 의도로 해석하였다. 또한 생활 속 지명은 공동체의 생활 속에서 나타난 주민들의 생활과 정체성이 반영되어 나타난 지명으로 해석하였다. 마을은 과거부터 현재에 이르기까지 많은 변화를 겪는다. 사라진 지명도 있고, 새로이 생성된 지명도 있다. 마을의 핵심을 이루는 장소들은 시간의 흐름 속에 함께 서서히 변화하지만, 그 장소를 지칭하는 지명은 쉽게 변하지 않는다. 마을의 지명은 숱한 의미와 이야깃거리를 지니기 때문에 시대가 흐를수록 그 의미는 깊어 간다고 할 수 있다.
Abstract
This study analyzed the meaning and characteristics of the existing major place names by using data from historical books, various geographic books, and old maps related to the village, for Hanbam(한밤, 大栗) community, a representative traditional community in Korea. The target community, Hanbam in Daegu, is a large community located at the northwest foot of Palgong Mountain, a famous mountain in Yeongnam(嶺南), and is a historic place that continues the diverse lives of residents, not a museum-like stuffed house. In this study, the Hanbam place name was largely divided into the place meaning in the Feng-shui(風水) place name, the place characteristics of the space containing the thoughts and ideologies of the ancestors, and the place meaning in real life. First, the Feng-shui place names could be interpreted as the meaning of trying to connect the land, humans, and life by strengthening the meaning of the space by forming a relationship with a certain type of physical space that forms a community. Second, Han-geo(閑居) place names is understood as an intention to recognize it as a place name by containing the desire and means to continue the life, thoughts, and will of the ancestors to the future. In addition, the place names in life can be interpreted as a place name that reflects the lives and identity of the residents in the life of the community. The rural community goes through many changes from the past to the present. There are missing place names, and there are newly created place names. The places that form the core of the village slowly change with the passage of times, but the place names that refer to the places do not change easily. Since the place names of community have many meanings and stories, their meanings can be said to deepen as time passes.
