산업별 금융제약과 수출 간의 관계에 관한 연구

지난 50년간 수출은 한국 경제 성장에 매우 중요한 역할을 하였지만, 세계금융위기 이후 급격한 감소세를 보이며 상당기간 수출 부진이 진행되었다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 수출 둔화 극복 방안으로 금융구조의 역할에 주목하고자 한다. 2006년부터 2013년 기간에 대해 한국의 산업별 수출 데이터와 차입금 의존도 및 유형자산비율로 측정한 금융 제약 데이터를 이용하여 산업별 금융 구조에 따른 수출 변화를 분석하였다. 그리고 추가적으로 이러한 특성이 기업규모별 및 수출품목별로 다르게 나타나는지 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 금융비용 상승 시 금융제약이 높은 산업일수록 수출 감소가 크게 나타났으며, 특히 중소기업과 원자재 및 자본재 수출이 금융제약에 민감하게 반응하는 것을 확인하였다.
Abstract
Following the financial crisis, Korea has experienced a sharp decline in export and it has not yet recovered to the level before the crisis. This paper focuses a role of financial constraints in order to boost export growth. The empirical analysis using industry-level data on export and financial constraints shows that an industry with a high financial constraint is more likely to show a large decline in exports as the cost of funds increases. In particular, the financial constraints have a greater impact on export of SMEs and capital and raw material goods.
