초록
A newly recorded species, Leptocotis tenuirostris (Claus, 1871), belonging to the family Oxycephalidae Spence Bate, 1863, was collected during a pelagic zooplankton survey from off Jeju Island, Korea. This monotypic genus is characterized by a well-developed rostrum in both sexes and lanceolate rami of all uropods. Leptocotis is morphologically similar to other genera in the family, however, Leptocotis can be distinguished by the combined length of urosomites 2 and 3 and length of outer ramus on uropod 1. To date, only three genera of the family Oxycephalidae, Oxycephalus H. Milne Edwards, 1830, Rhabdosoma White, 1847, and Streetsia Stebbing, 1888, have been recorded in Korea, making this the first record of the genus Leptocotis in Korean waters. Additionally, a key to species of the family Oxycephalidae from Korean waters is provided.
