분석 방법으로는 반복 이원변량분석(two-way analysis of variance with repeated measures)을 사용하여 실시하였고, 연구결과 신체구성의 체지방량(p=.002)과 체지방률(p=.002)에서 집단과 검사의 상호작용이 유의하게 나타났다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of caffeine intake for 12 weeks on body compositions, liver functions of elite Taekwondo athletes. The subjects of this study were a total of 29 male elite Taekwondo athletes in their early 20s, including high caffeine intake group (n=10), low caffeine intake group (n=9), and placebo intake group (n=10). As the analysis method of this study, two-way analysis of variance with repeated measures were performed to analyze the difference of dependent variables among 3 groups (high caffeine intake, low caffeine intake and placebo intake) and 3 tests (pre-test, interim test and post-test). When analyzing the results of this study, the interaction between the group and test was found to be significant in body fat amount (p=.002) and percentage body fat (p=.002) of body compositions. With regards to the change of liver functions, the main effect of group and test and interaction were not found in AST, ALT, and γ-GT. In conclusion, the intake of caffeine for 12 weeks did not show a significant change in aspects of body compositions of Taekwondo athletes who have characteristics of sport event that needs to maintain weight, and it showed tendencies of decreased body fat amount, percentage body fat revealing possibility of mixing effects between exercise and caffeine intake. With the design of this study, however, there was limit in identifying the effects of high caffeine or low caffeine intake. In addition, since there was no significant change in liver function according to intake of level of adequate amount of caffeine, additional studies on it are thought to be necessary.
