｢선공제의(先公祭儀)｣를 통해 본 조선 초기 『주자가례』 수용 양상

본 연구는 ｢선공제의(先公祭儀)｣에 대한 분석을 통해, 조선 초기 제례의 시행 과정에서 『가례』의 의절이 어떻게 변용되어 적용되고 있는지를 고찰한 것이다. ｢선공제의｣는 김숙자(金叔滋)가 집안에서 준행하기 위해 가범(家範)으로 남긴 제례의 지침서인 ｢제의｣를, 김숙자 사후에 아들인 김종직이 보완하여 정리한 제례서이다. ｢선공제의｣는 제례의 의절을 주희의 『가례』를 근본으로 하면서, 당시의 국제와 시속을 반영하고 있다. 특히 ‘재계(齋戒)’와 ‘제복(祭服)’에 대해서는 『국조오례의』와 같은 당시의 국제를 많이 반영하였고, ‘묘제(墓祭)’와 ‘절사(節祀)’는 『가례』보다는 당시의 시속(時俗)을 주로 따랐다. 제례의 절차도 『가례』와 ｢선공제의｣는 약간의 차이가 있는데, ｢선공제의｣의 제례 절차는 기본적으로 『주자가례』의 절차를 기준으로 하면서도 『국조오례의』 등 당시의 국제나 가문의 습속을 일부 반영하였다. 한편 ｢선공제의｣를 16세기 초반에 완성된 제례서인 이현보의 ｢제례(祭禮)｣ 및 이언적의 『봉선잡의(奉先雜儀)』와 비교해 보면, ｢선공제의｣와 ｢제례｣의 절차가 『봉선잡의』에 비해 간략하다. 이에 조선조에 『가례』의 수용 과정에서 초기에는 『가례』의 일부 항목이 시속을 따라 간소하게 시행되다가, 『봉선잡의』를 기점으로 『가례』의 절차가 온전히 반영되기 시작하였다고 하겠다. 이처럼 ｢선공제의｣는 조선 초기 『가례』가 정착하는 과정에서 『가례』의 의절을 국제(國制) 및 시속(時俗)과 절충하여 시행하였다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the content of Seongongjeui(先公祭儀) to examine how the Garye(家禮) was transformed and applied in the process of conducting ancestral rites during the early Chosun period. Seongongjeui is a ritual guidebook that Kim Suk-ja(金叔滋) left as a family guideline for conducting rituals. And His son Kim Jong-jik supplemented and organized the ritual text after Kim Suk-ja`s passing. Seongongjeui fundamentally relies on Garye while also reflecting the state system and customs of the time. The ritual procedures in Seongongjeui are mainly based on the guidelines from Garye, while also reflecting the social customs of the time, such as the Gukjo-oryeui etc. When comparing Seongongjeui, with Jerye(祭禮) by Lee Hyun-bo and Bongseonjapui(奉先雜儀) by Lee Eon-jeok which was completed in the early 16th century, it can be observed that the procedures outlined in Seongongjeui are simpler compared to those in Bongseonjapui. From this, it can be seen that in the process of establishing the Garye in the Chosun Dynasty, some items of the Garye were implemented in a simple manner at the beginning, and the procedure of the Garye began to be fully reflected starting with the Bongseonjapui.
