유아의 기질 및 부모 양육방식이 유아의 또래 상호작용에 미치는 영향

Predicting young children's peer interactions from temperament and parenting styles

본 연구의 목적은 유아의 개인 배경에 따른 유아의 또래 상호작용 차이와 유아의 기질 및 부모의 양육태도가 또래와의 상호작용에 미치는 영향력을 알아보는 것이다. 이러한 목적을 위해 2008년 출생아동을 대상으로 조사한 한국아동패널 2011년 4차년도 참여자 중 1,638명의 유아 기질, 부모양육방식, 유아의 또래 상호작용 자료를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 여아의 또래 상호작용이 남아에 비해 상대적으로 높았고, 남아의 놀이방해, 놀이단절이 여아에 비해 높게 나타났다. 출생순위에 따라서는 둘째가 첫째보다 또래를 더 많이 방해하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 유아의 기질 및 부모의 양육방식이 또래상호작용에 미치는 영향의 경우, 어머니의 사회적 양육행동과 통제적 양육행동, 유아기질의 정서성, 아버지의 사회적 양육이 유아의 또래 상호작용에 긍정적인 영향을 미치며, 영향력은 15%였다. 또래방해에 있어서는 어머니와 아버지의 사회적 양육행동이 부적인 영향을 미치고, 유아기질의 사회성과 정서성이 또래방해에 정적인 영향을 미치며, 영향력은 10%였다. 또래단절에 있어서는 어머니와 아버지의 사회적 양육행동이 부적인 영향을 미치고, 유아기질의 정서성과 활동성이 또래단절에 정적인 영향을 미치며, 영향력은 13%였다. 이러한 결과에 따라 시사점을 논의하고 몇 가지 제언을 하였다.

Abstract

This study was to investigate the difference of young children's peer interaction according to individual backgrounds; and the effects of temperament and parenting styles on young children's peer interaction. Data of temperaments, parenting styles, and peer interaction from the total of 1,754 young children among participants of 2011 Panel Study on Korean Children was re-analyzed. Results indicated that, in terms of the factors of individual background, girls showed relatively higher peer interaction scores than boys, and boys displayed higher scores in play disruption and play disconnection. In terms of birth order, it appeared that second child more disrupts peers than first child does. Second, as to the effect of temperaments and parenting styles on peer interaction; social and controlling parenting behavior of the mother, emotionality of temperament, and social parenting behavior of the father were positively related to peer interaction and their effect size was 15%. Social parenting behavior of the mother and father had a negative relationship with peer disruption. Sociability and emotionality of temperament were positively related to peer disruption and their effect size were 10%. With respect to peer disconnection, it was negatively related with social parenting behavior of the mother and father, and positively with young children's emotionality and activity with both effect sizes of 30%. With the results given, implications and recommendations were discussed.
