유아기 기질 유형과 만 9세 미디어 사용의 종단적 관계

본 연구는 유아기(만 3세) 기질 유형에 따라 만 9세 미디어 사용에 차이가 있는지 살펴보았다. 한국아동패널 4차년도와 10차년도 자료를 회귀분석, 군집분석, 공변량분석, 이분형 로지스틱분석을 활용하여 분석하였다. 만 3세 때 측정한 기질의 하위요인 중 만 9세 때 미디어 사용과 관련이 확인된 정서성과 활동성 중심으로 아동의 기질을 유형화 한 결과, 높은정서/높은활동(30%), 높은정서/낮은활동(14.3%), 낮은정서/높은활동(19.4%), 낮은정서/낮은활동(29.9%)으로 분류되었다. 높은정서/낮은활동 유형이 만 9세 때 미디어 과의존에 상대적으로 취약하였다. 유아기 기질 유형이 이후 과도한 미디어 몰입을 선별할 수 있는 조기 지표로서 가치가 있음이 새롭게 조명되었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the longitudinal link between temperament types at age 3 and media use at age 9. The 4th and 10th waves of the Panel Study of Korean Children data were analyzed using regression, cluster analysis, analysis of covariance, and binary logistic regression. The emotionality and activity levels at age 3 were associated with media use at age 9. Children were clustered into four groups based on their emotionality and activity levels at age 3; high emotionality/high activity (30%), high emotionality/low activity (14.3%), low emotionality/high activity (19.4%) and low emotionality/low activity (29.9%). Children in the high emotionality /low activity group were more susceptible to media overuse than their peers in the other groups. These results highlight the value of temperament styles as an early indicator for screening media overuse.
