CSSCI 상위 학술지에 게재된 한반도 연구의 경향 분석: 최근 5년간 국제정치학 분야 18개 주요학술지를 대상으로

Abstract

This article is to analyze the trends of the Korean Peninsula-related research in Chinese political science. The reason why it is important to understand academic perception is that the status of scholars and researchers in China has recently changed, and the Chinese government frequently listens to their advice. The study addresses papers published in 18 major CSSCI journals over five years, from 2016 to 2020 with a total of 128 volumes. According to these results, firstly, there were twice as many South Korean studies as North Korean studies. Second, concerning the trend of research, Many papers was published steadily from 2016 to 2019, but the number dropped sharply in 2020. To be specific, while South Korea-related research has been steady for five years, North Korea-related research has declined significantly in 2020, showing a overall decline. Third, academic journals with more than 10 Korean Peninsula studies include “Northeast Asia Forum”, “Contemporary International Relations”, “Pacific Journal”, “International Studies”. Fourth, scholars in Jilin university have been highly engaged in studying Korea Peninsula compared to other universities; scholars in Beijing have been highly engaged in studying Korea Peninsula compared to other regions. Fifth, 78% of scholars have obtained their Ph.D. degrees in China. Also, the largest number of people received doctorate degrees from Fudan university. Sixth, scholars have mainly focused on international relations. In particular, ‘foreign policies and strategies’ was the main research topic in the international political sector, and ‘political culture’ was the main research topic in the domestic political sector. Finally, most Korean Peninsula studies in China have utilized qualitative methods. We can understand that Chinese scholars’ main interests in studying Korean Peninsula and their educational background through this study.
