Abstract

This paper is to study the relationship between the (de)physicality and techno-science in the discourse of posthumanism. The digital technology has erased the physicality from humanity and turned the human body into “the body in technology” under the influence of the genetic engineering, cybernetics and computer information technology. Humans are now changing into superhumans or inhumans in the posthuman imagination. Haraway and Braidotti reconsider the ontological category of ‘humans’, imagining other kinds of posthuman existences. This paper analyzed how the posthuman characters expose the desire and the techno-fantasy in the posthuman age focusing on Blade Runner 2049 and other SF films. Blade Runner 2049 still depends on the anthropomorphization and the biological community as a desirable community in the future society even though its narrative tries to destroy the human-centered order and the boundary between humans and machines. However, the radicalness of posthumanism is that the human body is not considered as the base of humanity. SF films visualize the techno-science with a variety of digital technology. As in Ghost in the Shell and Lucy, the fusion of the categories of human and inhuman is based on the enhancement of humans and the cyborg envy,
