Abstract
This article recounts André Bazin's realism of photographic images. In general, his aesthetics of cinematic realism has been considered as photographic ontology of cinema that means the film theory of reproduction and imitation. As it were, it implies that film images are closely related with the indexicality and causality of reality. However, there is an urgent necessity to review Bazin's concept of realism in the advent of digital era. This is because computer-simulated images raise questions of the authenticity of reproduced images. The cinematic technology of computer synthesis creates the cinematic aesthetics of transformation and configuration beyond filmic imitation and reproduction.
