본 논문의 목적은 다문화교육이 인권에 토대를 둔다면, 다문화교육에 어떠한 새로운 가능성들이 생겨나는가를 살펴보는 것이다. 연구결과를 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화교육은 보다 다양하고 굳 건한 토대적 가치를 갖게 된다. 왜냐하면 인권은 다양한 권리들로 구성되어 있으며, 이러한 권리들은 사회적 효용, 이익, 이해관계, 이익보다 우선하며, 국가와 유엔에 의해 보장되기 때문이다. 둘째, 다문 화교육의 주체와 대상은 문화적 존재에서, 문화적 존재와 인간으로 변화하게 된다. 이러한 변화에 기 반하여 사람들은 다양한 문화 속한 사람들을 그 문화적 차이에도 불구하고, 모두 존엄한 존재로 인정 하고 존중할 수 있게 된다. 셋째, 다문화교육은 자유권과 평등권을 통하여, 문화내외에서 발생하는 부 자유와 불평등의 문제를 보다 적극적으로 다룰 수 있다. 넷째, 다문화교육은 정치권을 통하여 공통문 화를 민주적으로 형성할 수 있다. 다섯째, 다문화교육은 사회·경제적 권리를 통하여 문화내외에서 자 유와 평등을 실현하는데 기여하는 사회경제적 토대를 형성할 수 있다. 여섯째, 세계인권선언 제28조에 기반하여, 다문화교육은 문화다양성과 인권에 친화적인 사회 및 국제질서를 형성할 수 있다. 결론적으 로 다문화교육이 인권에 토대를 둘 경우 문화적 자유와 평등은 보다 증진되고, 공통문화는 민주적으로 형성되며, 다문화교육의 사회경제적 토대는 보다 굳건해질 것이다.
Abstract
The aims of this article is that if multicultural education is based on the human rights, which new possibilities are created in the multicultural education? The results of research are as fallow. First, multicultural education have various and strong foundational values. Because human rights is consisted of various rights and these rights have priority over the social utility, interest, profit, social norms. Second, the subject and object of multicultural education is changed from cultural being to cultural being and human. Due to these changes, people can recognize and respect people as a dignified human regardless of cultural differences. Third, due to the rights to freedom and rights to equality, multicultural education can actively deal with the problem of freedom and inequality in culture as well as among them. Fourth, due to political rights, multicualtural education can form common culture democratically. Fifth, due to social & economic rights, multicultural education have the social & economic foundation that help to realize the freedom and equality in culture as well as among cultures. Sixth, Due to article 28 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, multicultural education can make social and international order that support cultural diversity and human rights. In conclusion, if multicultural education is based on the human rights, the cultural freedom and equality can be more promoted, and the common culture can be formed democratically, and the social, economic foundation of multicultural education can be more consolidated.
