초록

자기희생을 통한 대상사랑을 교회 공동체의 본질로 인식하고 있는 기독교인들은 폭력을 연상시키는 권력이 교회 내에 구조화되어 있음을 부정한다. 그러나 교회 공동체 역시 인간관계 속에서 종교적 특징인 교육과 지도, 인도가 이루어지기 때문에 교회 내 권력의 구조화는 불가피하다. 물론 권력 자체를 부정적이라고만 할 수 없다. 권력자의 욕구와 이익만을 위해서가 아닌 교회 공동체 전체를 위해 권력이 사용되어진다면 이는 교회 공동체와 그 안의 개인들 모두의 성숙과 성장에 커다란 동력이 된다. 그러나 예전에도 있었지만, 최근 일부 교회에서 대두되는 왜곡된 권력 구조로 인해 대상 억압과 폭력 증상이 심각한 사회적 이슈로 주목을 받으며 교회는 대중에게 부정적 이미지로 각인되고 있다. 기독교가 대중의 지탄 대상이 되면서 점차 사회 속에서 교회의 본래 의미가 퇴색되어가고 있다. 그래서 교회 내 왜곡된 권력 구조의 형성과 유지 및 강화의 직접적 원인과 이에 대한 해결 방안에 관한 연구는 교회의 본질 회복과 목회자 정체성 확립, 그리고 교인들의 올바른 신앙생활 정립을 위해 반드시 필요한 목회 신학의 과제이다. 뿐만 아니라 교회 공동체의 자기비판과 성찰, 반성을 통해 한국 기독교와 교회에 대한 대중들의 시선을 부정에서 긍정으로 변화시키는 노력 또한 목회 신학이 해내야 할 숙제이다. 물론 이 문제에 대한 다른 분야에서의 연구도 중요하다. 그러나 연구자는 ‘권력’과 관련된 심리, 관계를 통한 돌봄의 실천을 학문의 핵심 요소로 삼고 있는 목회 신학 분야에서의 연구가 최우선되어야 한다고 생각한다. 연구자는 본 연구가 교회 내 권력 구조에 대한 재평가와 목회자와 교인들 사이의 관계 재정립, 더 나아가 교회의 본질적 의미에 대해 숙고해보는 기회가 되기를 원한다. 앞으로 많은 목회 신학자들에 의해 교회 내 권력 구조에 대한 다양하고 심도 있는 목회 신학적 차원에서의 연구가 진행되기를 희망한다.

Abstract

Christians recognize pastoral care and love through self-sacrifice as the essence of and the reason for the existence of the church. So they do not confess or try to accept that the powers associated with violence are structured in the church. However, the structure of the church is also composed of interpersonal relations, and the formation of a power structure is inevitable because of the religious features of education and guidance. But the formation of a power structure is inevitable because the church structure is also made up of interpersonal relationships, and because the religious characteristics of education and guidance. Power itself is not negative but can be used for negative or positive ends. Used only for the desires and interests of those in power, it can be negative; but used for the entire church community, power can be a great driving force for the maturity and growth of church members. Recently, the distorted power structure shown in some churches has highlighted the negative image of the church to the public as symptoms of object oppression and violence have emerged, and the church's intrinsic meaning has gradually faded as it has become the subject of social criticism. Therefore, research to identify and resolve the causes of the formation, maintenance, and reinforcement of distorted power structures in the church is indispensable for the restoration of the essence of the church, establishment of the identity of the pastoral role, and the establishment of the correct faith life of the Christians. Pastoral theological study should be prioritized over studies in other fields, especially since pastoral theology places importance on the practice of psychology and pastoral care through interpersonal relationships. I hope this study will be an opportunity to reevaluate the structure of power in the church, to redefine the relationship between pastors and church members, and further to contemplate the essential meaning of the church.
