초록
The purpose of this study is to figure out the ethics of making relationships with the unknown, not obsessed by the fear from uncertainty through Cormac McCarthy's novel, The Road with Karen Barad's concept, intra-action and Gaston Bachelard's insight of poetic imagination. With the issue of fear in uncertainty and human's irrational behaviors like corona virus pandemic, Simon Estok's ecophobia hypothesis reveals that losing control on the situation or unpredictability on the future is at the root of the psychological status. Barad's intra-action concept suggests the ethics of relationships articulating intra-action emphasizing relationship itself unlike interaction, which represents the separate bodies of this relationship. In particular, intra-action includes non-causality preparing emergence through complexity different from conventional intentionality and causality. Bachelard's insight of poetic imagination embodies the momentum of relationships with outer world. The story of the dad and the son making relationships with the unknown shows intra-action and the property of poetic imaginations. Moreover, their ethics of relationships withthe others prepare new possible future, survival. If literature can give new possibilities of hope in terms of survival and coexistence with nonhuman recognizing the real environmental problems in uncertainera, it can encourage the public to do proper responses to these issues to some extent.
