Abstract

This paper is an interdisciplinary study of the formation of modern Indo-Europeans. Archaeology was inevitably influenced by Western-centrism and imperialism. However, in the modern era, interdisciplinary research using archeology, linguistics, genetics, and computers has been conducted, especially genetic analysis of fossils has become possible, and the conventional wisdom of the past based on Western-centrism and imperialism is being overturned. This is because genetic analysis of ancient human fossils and comparison with modern humans became possible. The earliest humans settled in Europe. Subsequently, modern humans (Homo sapiens) divided and settled in Europe. Subsequently, modern humans (Homo sapiens) settled in Europe. Modern humans largely settled in Europe during the Paleolithic, Neolithic, and Bronze Ages, and have different races. During the Paleolithic, hunter-gatherers settled in Europe. However, the hunter-gatherers represented by Cro-Magnon are not directly related to modern Europeans. Today, European archaeologists refer to Cro-Magnon as early modern humans. Later, during the Neolithic period, ancient Europeans settled in Europe. Most of these Old Europeans disappeared as a result of mixed race, but they left a great legacy for modern Indo-Europeans, not only in their genes, but also in language, heritage, and culture. Modern Europeans are the result of a mixture of a small number of primitive Indo-Europeans (Kurgans) who began to settle in Europe during the Bronze Age and many ancient Europeans. As hypotheses regarding the formation of these Indo-Europeans, there are the Kurgan hypothesis, the Anatolian hypothesis, the Armenian hypothesis, and the like, and the Kurgan hypothesis is currently the most popular hypothesis. The way of thinking of Indo-Europeans, or ‘Aryans’, as a ‘pure blood’ group has provoked nationalist sentiments in Europe since the 19th century. But Paleolithic hunter-gatherers are descended from Africa, and 9,000 years ago they had dark skin as they are today. The peasants who later arrived in Europe from Anatolia(=Old Europeans) had lighter skin tones and spread throughout Europe. The white skin that modern Indo-Europeans regard as their exclusive origin comes from the now-disappearing Old Europeans. And even according to Marija Gimbutas(1921-1994)’ Kurgan hypothesis, which is currently most strongly supported, the migration of primitive Indo-Europeans (Kurgans) to Europe was B.C. It began around 4400 AD. However, the difference in the surface area of the body, which is said to be a characteristic of race, appeared about 40,000 to 10,000 years ago, and white skin appeared already around 20,000 B.C. A mutation that makes blonde hair appears in northern Eurasians 17,000 years ago. 7,700 years ago, hunter-gatherers in northern Europe had white skin and blue eyes. Before the arrival of primitive Indo-Europeans in Europe. Moreover, these external features are the result of the fusion of many heterogeneous groups. As such, racial and ethnic identities are difficult to define, and it is even more difficult to distinguish them by appearance.
