Abstract
In Western Europe, the translation of medieval Arab medical books began in the 11th century, and began to be translated in earnest in southern Italy and Spain in the 12th century and continued until the 16th century. The underdeveloped Western European medical community gradually improved medical technology by using Arabic medical books translated into Latin as textbooks in medical schools. In the 16th century, Western European medicine developed new medical technologies in various fields, including anatomy, obstetrics and gynecology, and ophthalmology, but the influence of Arab medical books continued until the 17th century, and some Arab medical books maintained their authorities as a source of medical knowledge until the 18th and early 19th centuries.
