독일 역사수정주의의 전개와 ‘탈진실’의 시대

독일에서 우익 극단주의자들의 활동은 통일을 계기로 급속히 확산된 것이 아니라 패전 이래 지속된 장기적 운동이었지만, 2016년 트럼프 미 대통령의 당선과 2019년 코로나 팬데믹으로 촉발된 사회적 위기를 계기로 점점 더 그 영향력을 높여가고 있다. 여기에 편승해 독일 역사수정주의자들은 다양한 인터넷 매체를 통해 자신들의 프로파간다를 더욱 확산시켜 나가고 있으며, 인터넷과 소셜미디어는 새롭고 창조적인 진실 왜곡의 방식들을 제공한다. 디지털 기술의 발달과함께 ‘탈진실’의 시대를 맞아 진실과 거짓을 구분하면서 비판적으로 사고할 수있는 새로운 사유 유형과 사회적 합의를 만들어 내야한다.
Abstract
To deny the Holocaust, openly claim racism, and positively glorify Nazism in public are no longer a minority phenomenon in German society. The far-right became middle-class. They organize civic groups and are interested in the social welfare of the underprivileged in the community and youth education. They open their own bookstores, give a rock concerts, run farms and strengthen their organization through hobbies such as sports, and local fire station. The historical revisionist in Germany try to break free from the tyranny of the past by revising their own history. There is no agreed method to verify the propaganda of right-wing extremism in this ‘Post-Truth’ age. We need to think out a way of agreement between truth and lies further to verify the authenticity of conflicting narratives.
