한·미 대학상담 기관 운영 실태 비교

본 연구에서는 대학상담에서 중요한 역할을 담당하는 상담센터와 취업센터, 리더십센터 등의 운영과 상담프로그램의 질적 향상을 위해 한국과 미국의 주요 대학상담센터를 조사 분석하였다. 전문가의 추천과 학교의 규모, 학생 수, 상담센터의 지명도 등을 고려하여 한국과 미국의 5개 학교 상담센터를 선정하였다. 선정된 대학의 상담기관 운영 실태는 기본적으로 홈페이지를 통해 조사한 후 전화통화 및 관련담당자와의 인터뷰를 통해 추가 자료를 수집하여 분석하였다. 운영실태 분석에서는 설립 목적, 소속 형태, 전문 상담인력 현황, 학위 수준, 주요업무 및 서비스 등을 비교하였고, 상담프로그램 분석에서는 프로그램의 종류, 프로그램의 내용, 공통 프로그램과 특성화 프로그램 등을 중심으로 비교하였다. 본 연구를 통해 대학상담의 구체적인 운영과 상담 서비스, 상담인력 양성과 관련된 시사점을 확인하였으며, 미국의 대학상담기관 모형에 대한 분석내용을 기초로 하여 국내 대학상담 기관들이 보완할 점과 개선해 나가야 할 방향에 대해 제언하였다.
Abstract
This study compared managing systems of college counseling centers between Korean and American universities. The research samples were 10 college counseling centers in Korean and American Universities. From 16 internet websites, several telephone calls, and interviews of 8 counselors who worked in these college counseling centers, the data were gathered and analyzed concerning establishment goal, type of institution, number and qualification of counseling staffs, degree of counselors, major job and services, number and contents of programs, and popular and special programs of centers. Establishment goal and type of institution were similar but the amount of staffs, contents of programs and the counseling training program's system were different. Through the results, the implications, future directions for research and limitations were discussed.
