초․중등 교원 교육연구대회 운영실태 분석 및 개선방안 탐색

Abstract

This study analyzes problems and perceptions of school teachers that attended an educational research conference related to managerial improvement. The subjects were 1250 school teachers from 125 elementary and secondary schools from a midsized metropolitan city in South Korea. Other professional educators participated to provide ideas for improvement during focus group interviews. This study found that the motivation to participate was significantly higher among elementary teachers with regard to position promotion score than among secondary teachers as well as that of need for the conference, effectiveness, and perception of the conference. However, the general perception of the conference experience was that it misused a promotion opportunity. Participation from teachers was passive with no quality control of the research findings, and it results a strong need of effective professional consulting. This study concluded that there must be impartial assessment system for awarding and sharing plans or research findings to improve the classroom environment for students. Finally, this study suggests that professional academic consulting and a positive participation policy such as financial support and field application of the research results, are also needed to develop and systematically manage the school teacher educational research conference in school districts.
