This study aims to establish the point that what is needed to understand Badiou’s philosophy is the consideration of the axiom of separation. · Differences from prior research: The research on the axiom of separation, which is fundamental in Badiou’s mathematical ontology, is not advanced. · Research method: This paper analyzes the ontological significance of the separation axiom, focusing on literature related to Badiou’s theories. · Research results: The axiom of separation proves the non-existence of the one and whole. · Contribution points and expected effects: Language is a mediation from consistent multiplicity to inconsistent multiplicity which is implied in the situation.
